Cefn Cribwr Bridgend

This section of the Celtic Trail from Tondu (north of Bridgend) west to the Frogpond Wood Nature Reserve in Pyle uses some unusual wooden decking winding its way through the Parc Slip Nature Park to keep you up above the soft ground beneath.
The Nature Park has recorded 28 butterfly species, rare wading birds pass through during the migrating seasons and several scarce damselfly and dragonfly species breed here.
There are Scheduled Ancient Monuments at either end of the trail: Cefn Cribwr Ironworks near to Pyle and Tondu Ironworks near to Tondu.
The trail is predominantly wooded with the occasional reminder dotted along the course of the route of its industrial past.
The trail could easily be linked at its eastern end to the Ogmore Valley route taking you right up to Nant-y-moel.
